THE U.N. REPORT ON EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLINGS

PRESS STATEMENT ON THE U.N. REPORT
The Alston Report finding the military behind enforced disappearances and extra-judicial killings is a welcome development. It just shows that the suspicions of the people are now validated by the UN Special Rapporteur and not only the Melo Commission. The only way for extra-judicial killings and enforced disappearances to stop is for the MILITARY to admit that these things happen and that the Military is ready to prosecute and punish those involved. The problem is that the perception of the people is that the MILITARY is part of the problem and also part of the cover-up. They can actually be part of the solution if they so choose.
